What should venues and planners know?
Billing name
Ricky Bobby Band, also styled Ricky Bobby ATX. Based in Austin, Texas.
Lineup
Three musicians perform live. Rik Avalos sings and plays bass. Bob Michaels sings and plays guitar. Sonny Sanchez plays drums and sings backing vocals. Rik and Bob split the lead vocals, so every chorus has one lead singer and two backup singers.
Event coverage
The band can cover a whole event, not just the dance floor: ceremony songs from the client's own list, an acoustic cocktail-hour set, softer dinner music and three dance sets. Both frontmen handle MC duties and announcements at any event, from wedding introductions and gala programs to corporate awards and birthday toasts. At a gala, the auctioneer runs the auction and the band stays out of it. One load-in and one contact. For an event where the band does not play, both frontmen can be booked on their own to host as a Master of Ceremony (MC) team, in race suits or black tie.
Set format
Up to three sets of about forty-five minutes each, with short breaks between them. Together that is about two and a half hours of live music, plus an encore if the crowd asks for one. We can also play cocktail hour and dinner, including an acoustic set with Sonny on percussion instead of the full kit.
Production
We bring our own full PA and stage lighting to every show and arrive self-contained for any size room. If a venue already has sound and lights, we plug into the house system.
Repertoire
Songs from 1967 to 2018, six decades in all: Motown and soul, funk, classic rock, ’80s new wave and ’90s alternative, plus grunge, hard rock, metal, Texas blues-rock, Texas country and reggae-rock. The full song list, with each original recording artist, is on the setlist page.
