DJ
Based in Austin, Texas, Ricky Bobby DJ is a wedding DJ service from Rik Avalos and Bob Michaels, the two frontmen of Ricky Bobby. They run it in race suits. At your reception, they can play a guest’s request even when the song isn't on the list they brought.
Your reception's music is in Rik and Bob's hands, and they play whatever you and your guests ask for. The PA, stage lighting and smoke that the band uses come with the DJ booking too.
Yes. Ricky Bobby DJ plays any song guests ask for. Songs download in real time at the event, so the music does not need to be in a library brought to the wedding. When a guest requests a song, we get it there and play it.
You can choose songs before the event to make the set list. We can also build it as guests make requests, or use both approaches.
The PA and microphones are available throughout the night for announcements, toasts and speakers. Rik and Bob both handle the microphone, so announcements don't hold up the music. For more detail, see our guide to who announces what at a wedding reception.
Ricky Bobby Music gives you three choices: Ricky Bobby the band, Ricky Bobby DJ and Ricky Bobby Karaoke. Book any one by itself or pair them up. One booking can have the band playing dance sets with the DJ covering the time around them. Sonny Sanchez plays drums with the band, and Rik and Bob work across both. To learn more about pairing them, visit the band’s wedding page and the packages page.
Rik Avalos sings and plays bass; he came up fronting Austin rock bands on the Sixth Street club circuit with Dirty Oliver and writes and records original music as the Rik Avalos Band at Austin’s 512 Studios. Bob Michaels sings and plays guitar; he has played Austin stages with the Rave and Slippery Fish and plays lead guitar in the Rik Avalos Band.

Yes. The race suits are a homage to the film Talladega Nights, and Rik and Bob wear them for every offering, band, DJ and karaoke. We are not playing the film’s characters.
We don't post prices. Your quote depends on your date and venue, the kind of event, the amount of music you want, and travel. We can play anywhere if the price works. For a general look at wedding music pricing, read our guide to what a wedding band costs.
Yes. Rik and Bob also run the karaoke DJ service Ricky Bobby Karaoke, which can run any song at any time as part of the same wedding.
I am an automated assistant, not one of the band. Ask about the setlist, the show, or what we need from your venue. If you want a date looked at, I can pass your details to Rik, who handles booking, and I will tell you when I have.
