Lighting and Effects
Ricky Bobby Music operates out of Austin, Texas. When you book any Ricky Bobby Music offering, the performers bring the same PA, stage lighting and smoke.
Book Ricky Bobby DJ or Ricky Bobby Karaoke and you get Rik Avalos and Bob Michaels; book Ricky Bobby, the band and Sonny Sanchez joins them on drums. Alongside the gear, Rik brings his experience fronting rock bands with Dirty Oliver on the Sixth Street club circuit, Bob brings his experience playing Austin stages with the Rave and Slippery Fish, and Sonny brings his work at 512 Studios and as a co-founder of Sounds Under Radio.
The PA and stage lighting operate independently in rooms of any size, or they can connect to a venue’s house system. We can set them up in a backyard or a ballroom, at whatever volume the space can handle. Our PA and microphones remain available all night for announcements, toasts and speakers, and because both Rik and Bob handle the microphone, announcements do not delay the music.
The venue decides, and its alarm system is usually the reason. According to the NFPA, a photoelectric smoke alarm has a light source and a cell sensitive to light; smoke entering its chamber scatters the light, which the cell then detects. The stage-safety knowledge base Entertaining Safety says photoelectric detectors are more prone to false alarms when fog machines are used. Ask the venue two things: which rules apply and which type of detector the room has. Our guide to what venues allow explains what venues typically prohibit, the reasons why, and how the detector type determines whether haze is an option.
Yes. One booking can include band and DJ, band and karaoke, karaoke and DJ, or another mix. All offerings you book share the same PA, stage lighting and smoke. See the packages page for the available combinations.
We don’t list prices. Your quote depends on the date, the venue, the type of event and how much music you want. The booking form comes directly to us, no agency in between. You can also email booking@rickybobbymusic.com or call (415) 271-9960.
I am an automated assistant, not one of the band. Ask about the setlist, the show, or what we need from your venue. If you want a date looked at, I can pass your details to Rik, who handles booking, and I will tell you when I have.
